Day 30 - 34: Back on Track

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, but sometimes life interferes with blogging. Anyway, here is a quick recap of the last 5 days:

Day 30 - No Running (In San Francisco and resting calf)

Day 31 - No Running (In San Francisco and resting calf)

Day 32 - 6 miles, 42:38 - 7:06 pace (7:38, 7:10, 7:00, 6:49, 7:07, 6:54)

Felt great! I made sure to take plenty of time off after the calf issue, even maybe milking it a bit over my vacation weekend. I expected to feel a bit rusty today, but was pleasantly surprised to find I felt smooth running at sub 7:00 pace and with no signs of calf pain.

Day 33 - 6 miles, 43:15 - 7:13 pace (7:57, 7:17, 7:05, 6:49, 7:10, 6:56)

This run was tougher than the day before. I felt much sorer today and not as smooth, especially at the beginning. Eventually, I loosened up some, but I never felt quite a smooth as yesterday. I guess it's not too surprising considering the time off I had.

Day 34 - 7 miles, 48:48 - 6;58 pace (7:43, 6:59, 6:55, 6:45, 6:51, 6:52, 6:40)

I went into this run only hoping to survive and came out with a great one! Yesterday, after my run, I took my son to Universal Studios for his 7th birthday, then he kept me awake for much of the night. When my alarm went off this morning at 5:30am, I had the hardest time getting up since I started training. Still, when it came time to run, everything just fell into place. It goes to show it doesn't matter how bad or tired you're feeling laying in bed, once you're up, anything can happen.
